Kevin D Buckles,
President

Born and raised in Poplar Montana on the Fort Peck Reservation, which is the Headquarters for the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes, Kevin is an enrolled member of the Assiniboine Tribe.

Kevin joined the United States Air Force directly after graduation from Poplar High School. Kevin served his country Honorably for 7 ½ years and was awarded numerous accommodations and awards for his professionalism and accomplishments. He also received a service connected disability and is as a Disabled Veteran.

Kevin was also elected the first Native American Mayor for the City of Poplar and served on numerous civic organizations such as the Poplar Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 55, Ducks Unlimited, Walleyes Unlimited, the Boys and Girls Clubs; just to name a few.

For the past several years Kevin has been working directly in Indian Country working diligently to increase opportunities for Native Americans in the Construction Field. While he served as the TERO Director for the Fort Peck Tribes he brought on site construction training opportunities to numerous tribal members and facilitated the Tribes' first ever Tribal Labor Agreement in which he was able to place 90% Native American Hire. From 2008-2009 Kevin has been Director of Field Operations for the Council for Tribal Employment Rights, Native Construction Careers Initiative.

Shawn Nichols,
Chief Financial Officer

Shawn is responsible for all of NACTM’s financial functions including accounting, treasury, tax, audit, financial reporting and financial planning and analysis.

Prior to joining NACTM, he held the position of controller with Asahi Seiko USA, overseeing all accounting and financial reporting responsibilities for the Japanese subsidiary.  Before joining Asahi Seiko, Mr. Nichols worked in public accounting with Conant, Nelson and Conant as well as Tidwell DeWitt LLC working on individual and corporate tax as well as Sarbanes-Oxley auditing with a focus on risk and control analysis.  In addition, he worked as a tax examiner with the Internal Revenue Service.

Mr. Nichols holds bachelor’s degrees from the University of Colorado-Denver and Kennesaw State University in political science and accounting, with honors, as well as his juris doctorate degree from Creighton University School of Law.

George Nichols,
Secretary/Treasurer

Born and raised in Fairmont, West Virginia, George received his bachelor’s degree in 1971 from Fairmont State College.  From 1968 to 1971 he was a continuous miner operator for Eastern Associates Coal Corporation and Bethlehem Steel and a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

George attended the University of Denver, College of Law from 1971 to 1974, receiving his juris doctorate degree in 1974.  From 1971 to 1973 he also worked as a hard rock miner for the Schwartzwalder Uranium Mine.  Mr. Nichols was a legal staff assistant from 1973 to 1974 for the Jefferson County Court.

From December 1974 to the present, Mr. Nichols has been in private law practice in Denver, Colorado.
