NACTM Selected to Conduct First of Its Kind
In May of 2010 the United Tribes Technical College graduated 20 Level II Energy Auditors, which was a demonstration project funded through stimulus money. All 20 trainees completed an extensive 18-week course to become certified in Level II Energy Auditing. NACTM was asked by Jim West and Lynn Forcia of the Office of Indian Energy and Economic Development to put together a proposal that would provide the UTTC Energy Auditor Level II trainees with viable opportunities for growth. Fort Peck Tribes Lose Key Tribal Leader
Indian Country lost a tribal leader recently, Darryl Red Eagle. Red Eagle, tribal councilman for the Fort Peck Tribes, was finishing up his third term on the tribal council. He fought hard for not only his own people, the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes, but all of Indian Country, especially when it came to health care. In February of 2008 Darryl testified before Congress about the horrible conditions of the Indian Health Service on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Read More
ICC, NACTM Agreement Will Make Tribal Land Construction Safer, More Sustainable
The International Code Council and Native American Construction Training Management (NACTM), Inc. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that combines safe and sustainable construction methods that result from building to code and continues the Native American heritage for efficient use of natural resources.
The agreement centers on strategies that will create a single, complete system of sustainable commercial and residential codes for all that live on and use Tribal lands throughout the United States. Both organizations promote greater public safety through the implementation and enforcement of building codes, professional training, and the conservation of natural resources. Read More
Contractors Who Go The 'Extra Mile'
All-State Fire Protection, Inc. has committed to help make a difference in Indian Country by agreeing to the terms of a Tribal Training Labor Agreement developed by NACTM, Inc. Through the TTLA all parties mutually agree that the contractor will hire trainees on construction projects on and off the reservation as well as provide Apprenticeship into the applicable construction trades. NACTM President Meets With National Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee
Washington DC – NACTM, Inc. President Kevin Buckles was invited to speak to the National Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee recently about the Permanent Job Creation Initiative. The NJATC, National Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee, was created over 68 years ago and has developed into one of the largest apprenticeship and training programs of its kind. Read More
Unprecedented Tribal/Union Initiative has 94% success Rate Getting Members into Long-term Careers Paths (For Immediate Release)
WIND RIVER, WYO – The Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes are proud to announce that 50 Native trainees from the Wind River and other reservations have gone through the “Permanent Jobs Creation Initiative,” and that 47 have received jobs with a union contractor providing a career path to a better future for them and their families. The 94% success rate for the reservation based training program with many of the union apprentice level members former welfare recipients is a unique blend of entities committed to spurring economic and human development on the reservation.
